Your First Appointment

When you attend for your first Podiatry, Chiropody, Physiotherapy or acupuncture appointment, you will be asked to complete a health questionnaire which asks for a brief medical history, any allergies and current medication (please bring a copy of your prescription).  It is important that this is accurate, as treatment may have to be adjusted depending on the medication you may be taking or your medical history.   For certain types of appointments quality of life questionnaires or other bench marking questionnaires and assessments may be used to help your clinician assess the effectiveness of any treatments used.

All information you give us is treated confidentially.

Want to save time on your first visit?  Please print out and complete the appropriate questionnaire below.

Chiropody Assessments:

Duration of appointment:  30-45 minutes

  • A neurological assessment
  • Skin and nail assessment

A treatment plan will be made and nails, corns and calluses will be treated during this appointment.

Podiatry Assessment:

Along with taking information about your general health and a history of your foot problem will be noted, along with a detailed physical assessment of your feet/foot.  This will be used to diagnose the problem.  A treatment plan will be discussed with you and usually treatment is started at this initial assessment.

Gait analysis:

Duration of appointment:   45 – 60 minutes

You will be asked to bring shorts to change into or other suitable clothing that will enable a full assessment of your gait (the way you walk).

During the appointment, information will be taken about your medication and general health.  A detailed history of your condition or symptoms will be taken.  A gate analysis (f scan and video gate analysis) will then be carried out.  The podiatrist will then discuss an appropriate treatment plan.  You will be provided with a digital report following your assessment.

Physiotherapy assessment:

Duration of appointment:  40 – 55 minutes

Please wear items of clothing that enables the physiotherapist to access the area of your body that is causing you pain.  During the appointment, information will be taken about your medication and general health.  A detailed history of your condition/ problem/ injury will be taken.

Acupuncture assessment:

Duration of appointment:  45 – 55 minutes

Acupuncture is often used by our clinicians as part of treatment for musculoskeletal problems, but it can also be used in isolation for complaints such as insomnia and anxiety.

For these conditions a traditional approach to acupuncture is used which involves in depth questioning about your lifestyle and medical history.
